Lula Kate + Kate McDonald Bridal

1.LulaKate.KateMcdonald.Bridal.Wedding-16 The stars aligned last fall when Beth Chapman of The White Dress reached out to me to photograph a shoot she put together with Lula Kate bridesmaids + wedding gown designer Kate McDonald.  It turned out to be the All-American , preppy girl dream bridal shoot (and I was swooning every second of the day--Kate McDonald even hand painted this wedding gown!).  We had a team of amazing creatives to pull off this bride + bridesmaid shoot , and Connecticut was the perfect backdrop.

Style Me Pretty published the shoot on their site today.  Please venture over + share some love!

I cannot wait to work with these fabulous ladies again!

Jason + Lauren | Dallas Wedding Photography

When I think of Lauren and Jason I think of: depth, authenticity, laughter, and power.  What is amazing about their love is that individually they both have passion to be a positive voice in our culture, and together the power they have to be leaders in our world is endless. (Not to mention their love is completely infectious!) Their wedding day was flawless. Surrounded by their family and community they celebrated what God has done in their lives, and their journey towards forever. Lauren was so full of peace and so grounded that day, and Jason is always a ball of energy and such a light. Their ceremony was intimate and tears and laughter brought their announcement of husband and wife. Todd Events created an effortless winter chic vibe, and to say there was an epic dance party is an understatement. Jason and Lauren you two are gems. You bring such light to our world, and we are so excited for your lives to unfold! XO, Kat + Linz

P.S.  Another really special part of shooting this wedding was the unique experience I got to shoot with one of my long time friends Lindsey Shea.  Lindsey is one of the most intentional + loyal people that I have met.  It was a unique situation because we got to team up together.  I'm so grateful to have gone through this experience with her!  Lindsey I love you friend!

Style Me Pretty Feature | The Highline Hotel Radiant Orchid Wedding

Last December when my sweet from Emily + her husband Aaron were visiting from San Fran they stayed at this old seminary turned hotel in Chelsea.  I was instantly intrigued, and upon exploring the space with Em + taking our Christmas card pics there for our fashion blog I knew without a doubt that The Highline Hotel was a space I wanted to create in.  Fast forward a month and I began thinking of ways to mix my two passions:  fashion + wedding photography.  What better way to do both than incorporate Pantone's Color of the Year:  Radiant Orchid?

For the fashion forward bride who wants to incorporate pieces of Radiant Orchid my suggestion:  stay with classic silhouettes and add pops of color in your details.  From jewelry to nail polish to bouquets, to lavender mimosas there are a 1,000 different ways to incorporate orchid into your wedding.  If you're feeling a bit adventurous go bold like our bride + bridesmaids did!

This shoot took a village + I am beyond humbled and grateful at the amazingly creative + talented ladies that came together to make this shoot happen.  Thank you for helping to make this vision a reality + 100 times better than I could have ever hoped for!  If you don't know these fabulous people, get to know them!  And brides if you're still looking for NYC vendors…these are your gals!

Be sure + check out Style Me Pretty today for the full feature on this shoot!

Sneak | New York Fashion Week...

Lauren Scruggs + Shannon Yoachum of Lolo Mag

Emily and I have been in NYC for Fashion Week since last Thursday; it has been non stop and full of wonderful little surprises (one being the BLIZZARD that rolled in with conviction on Friday)  I cannot wait to write more, but for now here's a little sneak...

Our view from Billy Reid Fall 2013.  Every single piece of this collection I die over.

Our view from the second row at Monique Lhuillier Fall 2013.  Ladies get ready for Emerald; it's here to stay.

Em shooting backstage at Monique Lhuillier after the show.

My sweet friend Hilary of Dean Street Society connected me with Anna of In Honor of Design.  This lady is a gem.  We took pictures in the snow at Union Square and grabbed coffee at Joes.

I got to meet and shoot Miss Courtney Kerr.  She is such a lovely person, has some awesome sass, and she's from Texas...I knew we'd hit it off!

More to come folks...just wanted to give you a little sneak!

Olivia Lopez | Lust for life

Before the Holidays I had the chance to meet Miss Olivia Lopez of the uber rad and successful Fashion Blog Lust for Life.  Not only does she have some stellar style, she was curator for another one of my absolute favorite Brands and Blogs:  Club Monaco's Culture Club. We met at Salon Benjamin, and I photographed her getting her hair did, and then a fun little outfit post for her!  Check out Olivia's Lust for Life post this afternoon HERE.

Can't wait for more fun with you Olivia!

Darling Magazine | Winter Issue

This Fall I was beyond thrilled when I was asked to Participate in Darling Magazine's Winter 2012 Issue.  You may remember my shoot earlier this month with Darling Co-Creator and Editor Sarah Dubbeldam.  She is such a lovely woman inside and out, and I honestly feel so blessed to be apart of this project.  Darling Magazine is all about the art of being a woman; it seeks to empower young women to live meaningful and purposeful lives, filled with integrity and modesty while also displaying their uniqueness, sense of fashion.  Darling is the type of magazine that every woman should read no matter the age.

A Brooklyn Bride and Her Maids | Southern Weddings Feature

Last month when I was in NYC shooting Bridal Market for Southern Weddings Magazine, I had the p-r-i-v-e-l-e-g-e to work with some of my absolute favorite East Coast vendors on an editorial Southern Charm meets Brooklyn shoot for Southern Weddings. I kind of want to write an Ode to the lovely ladies that made this shoot a reality, because I am just so blown away that I got the opportunity to work with such talented, driven, and sweet ladies.  (I will spare you of my poetry though!)

Please check out the feature that Southern Weddings did on the shoot HERE, and enjoy this Southern Meets City shoot!

Jackie Weppner of Merci New York was responsible for the amazing wardrobe styling from the:  2013 Reem Acra Wedding Gown via Gabriella Bridal Salon, to the polka dot tights, to the 2013 Donna Morgan dresses, to the Dolly Pearl Dresses, to the clutches, to the earrings, to the shoes.  Not only does Jackie have impeccable taste, she is one of the hardest workers I know, and man does she know how to style!  We've worked together the last several years, and I am consistently impressed by her!

Each time I work with the ladies of FaceTime Beauty I am just giddy.  Ladies of the East Coast, if you need your hair and make-up done call them.  Maysoon and Holly of FaceTime Beauty did a flawless job on all of the ladies.

Miss Kelly of 2H Flowers made all the delicate and feminine floral arrangements for the day.  I just wanted to take them all home with me!

Molly of Glitter + Rye is responsible for all the yumminess of the DIY Whiskey Bar (I mean awesome is that!), the bow tie rack, the sear sucker napkins, the carmel popcorn, and all the wonderful details.  Molly is one busy woman, and was such a gem to hop on board with this shoot and make my vague ideas become a tasty reality.

Brooklyn Wedding | Southern Weddings Magazine

Today Southern Weddings Magazine is featuring a collaborative shoot I did while I was in Brooklyn a few weeks ago.  You can view the Southern Weddings feature HERE. As y'all know I'm a Texas girl myself, and there was nothing more that I wanted to do than a Southern Charm meets City shoot in New York City.  This shoot would not have been as fun or as successful without the rad team of women that came together to make it all happen:

Wardrobe Styling: Jacqueline Weppner of Merci New York
Photographer:  Kat Harris
Models:  TrinityJessica, and Hilary
Details, Tablescape, and goodies:  Molly of Glitter and Rye
Florals:  Kelly of 2 H Flowers
Wedding Gown:  Reem Acra courtesy of Gabriella Bridal Salon
Peach Bridesmaids Dresses:  Dolly Pearl
Hair and Make-up:  Holly and Maysoon of FaceTime Beauty
Location:  MyMoon, Brooklyn NY

Ladies y'all rock!

Here's a sneak of my images (more to come)...but for now be sure and check out the post on Southern Weddings!

NYC Bridal Market 2013 | Southern Weddings Magazine

The little girl inside me jumps up and down, spins and twirls as I go through these NYC Bridal Market 2013 runway images.  It feels like I'm in a dream to get to photograph some of the most exquisite and exclusive wedding gowns from designers all over the world.  I left almost every show having fallen in love with yet another classic silhouetted dresss full of its own unique and modern twists. And I'm pretty sure I have found my wedding dress (or several of them).  Now all I gotta do is find that right guy!  Enjoy some of my most favorite dresses from NYC Bridal Market 2013, and also be sure and check out my images on Southern Weddings blog from earlier this week!

First off a little behind the scenes at Monique Lhuillier.

This fall was my sixth season of photographing NYC bridal market, and with each season there's that one dress that stands out above the rest to me.  That one that makes my heart simply melt and flip flop like a little school girl.  This season it was none other than Miss Monique Lhuillier that stole my heart.  The silk tulle cap sleeve with floral appliqués, and the sassy slit up the middle.  I'm in love.

Now onto Claire Pettibone.  Claire's line is magical. Each season she takes you on a whimsical, romantic, and ethereal journey, and this season was no different.  What stands out to me most about this lovely Claire Pettibone 2013 collection is the delicate yet structured busts, and the scoop backs filled with intricate details of:  pearls, ribbon, and lace.  Sigh.

Next, Christos, Amsale, and Kenneth Pool are always some of my favorite shows to shoot. Why, you ask?  The lighting is killer at their shows, they always play good music (this season it was Mayer Hawthorne), and there's always red lipstick involved.  And OF COURSE I must add that the dresses are classically structured  with  bows always present... just what any southern gal could ever want.

Reem Acra was one of my favorite shows to photograph at Merceds Benz Fashion Week in September.  She is known for being a trail blazer, taking risks, and always being a step ahead of the rest.   Her 2013 bridal collection did not disappoint.

Ines di Santo has stolen my heart many times.  The Lissome from 2 seasons ago is still the most exquisite gown I have ever seen.  Not only do Ines and her daughter Veronica continually create breathtaking gowns, they are two of the most down to earth and joyful women I have met.

The off the shoulder gown on the left makes me heart swoon; it's so feminine!

Anne Barge is another show I always look forward to.  Her gowns are elegantly tailored and richly romantic.  What I love about Anne Barge is that she embraces curves and real women:)

For the last 5 seasons my last show to photograph has always been Pnina Tornai at Kleinfelds.  Honestly, it's the perfect way to end market.  Pnina Tornai's gowns are sexy and offer that va-va-voom  quality.   Her gowns are filled with low backs, plunging necklines, lace bodices, full skirts and sass upon sass upon sass.

Don't you want one...or two...or three?

Oh NYC and Southern Weddings...and oooh bridal market; it was fun.

Until next time...

Southern Weddings + NYC | Bridal Market

Last week I had the absolute privilege of photographing New York Bridal Market for the lovely ladies of Southern Weddings Magazine:  Marissa and Kristin. Everything about this week was memorable.  Running from show to show, to squeezing in the photographers pit, to walking on the High Line w M & K inbetween shows, to parties, to an editorial shoot in Brooklyn, to yummy coffee, to scarves and fall weather.

I could go on and on and on...but I must say one of my favorite parts was on the last day when the girls and I were so tired that e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g was funny.  You know what I mean?  Like it doesn't matter who says it, when they say it, and what it is you just laugh.  We definitely had to pull ourselves together for the last show (Pnina Tornai), which was unbelievably worth it!  Her Spring Summer 2013 collection was to.die.for.

I'm tickled pink that Southern Weddings is featuring my runway images from the week on their blog today.  Check out their posts HERE and HERE.  Stay tuned as I blog my favorite gowns from NYC Bridal Market on the blog this week:)
