Highline Hotel Chelsea Wedding | Patrick + Emily

And her heart was the best part,

it would always calm the storm for those who were afraid of a little rain.

-R.M. Drake

On our way to the ceremony it began to pour buckets of rain the way it does in New York City summers:  completely out of nowhere not cognizant of our plans.  It just rains--even when it's your wedding day and you're walking to the ceremony and get trapped under a bridge.  Just like it happened on Patrick and Emily's wedding day.

Something about it was sorta perfect though.  Because isn't that life?  You have all of these perfect plans, and then something happens out of left field.  There's nothing you can do about it and it's not even about the thing; it's what you make of it.  And the light heartedness and laughter that Emily had about being stuck under a dirty bridge in Chelsea in her wedding dress made me feel confident that these two are going to move through lifes unexpected moments with open hands--because they embrace the unexpected.

The rain stopped, and we ran to the ceremony, and the weather was perfect for portraits, and they seriously danced the night away.  I mean these guys know how to have a dance party!

Patrick and Emily you two are some of my dream clients.  You're authentic, so connected to each other, and you love your tribe so well!  I can't wait to see life unfold for y'all!  Thank you for letting me be apart of your journey!

Style Me Pretty Feature | The Highline Hotel Radiant Orchid Wedding

Last December when my sweet from Emily + her husband Aaron were visiting from San Fran they stayed at this old seminary turned hotel in Chelsea.  I was instantly intrigued, and upon exploring the space with Em + taking our Christmas card pics there for our fashion blog I knew without a doubt that The Highline Hotel was a space I wanted to create in.  Fast forward a month and I began thinking of ways to mix my two passions:  fashion + wedding photography.  What better way to do both than incorporate Pantone's Color of the Year:  Radiant Orchid?

For the fashion forward bride who wants to incorporate pieces of Radiant Orchid my suggestion:  stay with classic silhouettes and add pops of color in your details.  From jewelry to nail polish to bouquets, to lavender mimosas there are a 1,000 different ways to incorporate orchid into your wedding.  If you're feeling a bit adventurous go bold like our bride + bridesmaids did!

This shoot took a village + I am beyond humbled and grateful at the amazingly creative + talented ladies that came together to make this shoot happen.  Thank you for helping to make this vision a reality + 100 times better than I could have ever hoped for!  If you don't know these fabulous people, get to know them!  And brides if you're still looking for NYC vendors…these are your gals!

Be sure + check out Style Me Pretty today for the full feature on this shoot!

Bruno + Yuri | Times Square Lifestyle Session

Bruno and Yuri met over 8 years ago when they were set up on a blind date.  Yuri is a designer, and Bruno is on the police force in San Paolo Brasil.  Something just clicked on that first date, and they have been together ever since. Here’s the fun part:  these two just got married in Brasil and are on an epic honeymoon journey starting here in New York City, then they’re off to Tokyo, and finally Rome before heading home!  In each city they’re getting their pictures done to capture their honeymoon in all of its different stages.   I was honored that I got to capture them here in The Big Apple.

Lucky for them we had their session the day before Polar Vortex Parte dos visited Manhattan.  We started at the rooftop of their eclectic hotel Pod 39, headed to Grand Central, had adventures on the subway, literally ran through Times Square, and played at Rockafeller Plaza.  It was a photography session of epic proportions, and what I loved about our time is how genuine and grounded they both are.  They have such security in their love; it was beautiful to witness.

Yuri + Bruno enjoy your travels, and thanks so much for allowing me to be apart of your journey!

End of the Year Faves | Weddings

2012... Where did you go?  You seem to have slipped through my fingers.  Once again I find myself at the end of another year, and let me tell you 2012 has been quite the year.  When this year started the word that came to mind for the next 12 months was transition.  I really did not know what that would entail, but it has entailed quite a bit.

This year I started my own business, which I honestly thought I would never do.  I feel like I have been thrown into this journey that I never expected to be on, and more than anything I feel so thankful.  Thankful for the opportunities, thankful for those of you who have supported and cheered me on, thankful for clients that trust me, and thankful oh-so-thankful that I get to wake up and do what I love to do.

This year, I have had the privilege to photograph some beautiful weddings!  Here are some of my favorite wedding images from 2012...

Stay Tuned for more of my 2012 faves:)
